Facebook has recently launched a new design for its web interface. The company has introduced a new dark mode. Previously, a dark mode was only available for the web interface. However, now it shall be available for the mobile app as well. A few Twitter users have been sharing screenshots of the Facebook android app running on dark mode.

As reported by some of the prominent top tech websites like Techcrunch, Facebook is right now rolling out this most awaited Dark Mode feature to some of its users in different geo-locations. One of Facebook’s official spokesperson also confirmed the same about rolling out this dark mode feature in the Facebook android app but not globally.

The dark mode is popular among many app users for several reasons on different platforms. For starters, it consumes less battery because displaying darker pixels on an LED screen takes far less power than displaying white ones.

There are also those who find that it is less straining on the eyes, and many believe that the reduced blue light helps them sleep better — although the jury is still out on the science behind that.

On the heels of dark mode’s rise across platforms and devices, Facebook is poised to join these ranks. At present, they’ve released a beta test for a small group of test users and will likely deploy it after several rounds of feedback and adjustments.
