Unlike other messenger services like Facebook Messenger, LINE, WeChat, and so on, WhatsApp relies on your phone number to identify you. While this creates a unique identifier, the problem is that if you own multiple devices, it can be problematic if you wish to receive messages on multiple devices simultaneously.

The good news for WhatsApp users is that it appears that could change soon. This is according to a discovery by WABetaInfo who found some evidence in the latest beta of WhatsApp that suggested that multi-device support could be coming soon, but it appears to be in the early stages of development so it is unclear how it will work.

Will it be similar to other messenger services were receiving a message will notify all devices? Or would there be a need for the primary device to be turned on? For example with WhatsApp web (or desktop), you will need to have your primary device connected and turned on in order to receive messages on the desktop, which is why we’re curious as to how multi-device support will work.

There is no word on when this new feature will be rolled out, but if you’re a WhatsApp user with multiple devices, then this could definitely be worth looking forward to in the future.
